reddit is an entertainment, social networking service and news website where registered community members can submit content, such as text posts or direct links. Only registered users can then vote submissions "up" or "down" to organize the posts and determine their position on the site's pages. Content entries are organized by areas of interest called "subreddits". The site is a collection of entries submitted by its registered users, essentially a bulletin board system. The name "Reddit" is a portmanteau of "read/edit" and of "read it", e.g., "I read it on Reddit".

Reddit; the self proclaimed "Front door of the Internet" Reddit has all the information you could ever, or never want. From cooking recipes to news to video game reviews. Also heaps of nonsense and scandalous porn. Reddit is fantastic and ridiculous and where our culture comes to be born, achieve greatness, and then die in infamy. Except nothing is ever "gone" from the internet...

The site is amazing in its simplicity, but has a very steep learning curve. The subreddit organization means that if you can create a culture around it you can share ti with others. The sheer number of subreddits is astounding. the information is there, but I dare you to find it.

The site is entirely self moderated, and anyone can find a place to share any idea, thought or experience they have ever had. Simply create a free account, log in, and get searching. Let that sink in. You'll never know what you'll find.

The site isn't pretty to look at, and figuring out what you're looking for is a big hassle, but inside the ugly container it holds our humanity's future.

Just watch out for r/spacedicks.

I use Reddit for, but not limited to: reading discussions about the latest episode of some show/movie that I was/am watching, seeing fan art, finding memes(or other funny pictures), staying up to date on world news, and finding new and interesting things that I would've never known about.

Users can "upvote" or "downvote" different articles, texts, or pictures with the simple click of an up arrow or a down arrow. The up arrow gives the discussion more points, which sends it up higher to make it easier to be seen by more people, while the down arrow sends it down into "downvote hell".

The main page of reddit can be broken down into two, more often used, sections. The "front page", which is made up of subreddits(I'll discuss this soon) and the "All" page, which is everything on reddit. I do mean everything...so there's some...stuff that might appear on the front page from time to time that's really NSFW/L. Thankfully, they mark everything that's NSFW/L for users, just to keep them safe if they're not using their own personal computers. They're nice like that.

The All page consists of everything that's submitted to reddit, as mentioned earlier, users upvote various discussions, which can cause something to appear on the first page of reddit. These are the "fruit of the day" sort of things where they are only at the top for a day, then get replaced by the next days popular discussions.

The Front page consists of all of your subscribed to "subreddits". A subreddit is a subsection of reddit, divided off to only focus on a particular subject. Perhaps you're into Game of Thrones? There's a subreddit for that. Maybe you're into Pokemon? There's a subreddit for that. You could be a fitness nut. There's a subreddit for that too. There's a subreddit for just about any community, big or small. The bigger the subreddit, the more likely their stuff is to appear on the "All" page of reddit, which makes it more likely for people to see....which then could increase the community size. Thankfully, there are moderators for each subreddit to keep everything in check.

One of my favorite little features is called an AMA, which stands for "ask me anything". This is typically used by celebrities to allow users to ask them questions, then reply to said questions in a discussion thread. Which, by the way, each thread can be upvoted and downvoted, sending each thread to the top of the discussion page or the bottom.

Confused? Sorry....however, there's a lot more to it, which we could get into...however, who wants to read a ten page review for a website? Check it out for yourself, it's fun, fast, and fairly "easy" to use...so long as you know what to avoid. Oh yeah, there's some WEIRD stuff on there, like really weird. You know your uncle Chuck? The one that is always saying those weird things about the government or aliens? The uncle that your parents wish you never met, but you have to see every Thanksgiving or Christmas? Oh yeah, he's probably there too.

Sound like a lot? Yes, yes it is. It takes some time to get used to, but once you figure it all out, it's really a piece of cake. I was, thankfully, shown how to use reddit by a friend of mine which allowed me to just jump right on into it. So, have fun. Discover what you will on Reddit, "the front page of the internet".

Well, there are plenty of much much much(!) better websites to raise money by crowdfunding. The quaility of projects is very low and the money raised are also low too. I would strongly reccomend Kickstarter.

I really love the magazine and the site quality is simalar to it. All the articles are carefully written with nice photos. But the site layout is a bit complicated to me.

Crowdfunding has become a huge sensational across the internet in the past year or so. I have seen many sites pop up and die down; crowdfunding is definitely one of the best that I have seen in a long time. It is easy to use, and reaches out to a vast population.

I love the concep...
