Video Streaming , Social Networks

YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005 and owned by Google since late 2006, on which users can upload, view and share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media video content, including video clips, TV clips, and music videos, and amateur content such as video blogging, short original videos, and educational videos.

Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, the BBC, Vevo, Hulu, and other organizations offer some of their material via YouTube, as part of the YouTube partnership program. Unregistered users can watch videos, and registered users can upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users affirming themselves to be at least 18 years old. YouTube, LLC was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion in November 2006 and now operates as a Google subsidiary.

Share whatever you want. Seriously, whatever you want. Oh except not porn and violence and stuff like that. But videos of you singing Lady Gaga songs to your nine cats? Or burning off your own hair? Or eating ghost pepppers? Go for it. But remember, you will get trolled in the comments.

YouTube is pretty good for finding pretty much any music or video that you want to see for free. There's some pretty good content that would be hard to find elsewhere - if you can't find a video, you can pretty much bet it's on YouTube. There are some people who make good content and there are lots of good tutorials for being crafty.

With that said, there are some things that I definitely dislike about YouTube, the main one being that somehow all of the idiots of the internet always end up in the comments section of every video.

Another pet peeve is Vevo. YouTube is supposed to be an international website, but Vevo is only available to North American users, and it seems like more and more videos are now Vevo videos. I live in North America myself, but on principle, I really don't like the fact that Vevo is taking over such a big percentage of YouTube - I have several international friends who complain about it as well.

The design they switched to a couple of years ago is kind of hard to use in my opinion, and I don't like that it's not very easy to make a playlist/change a playlist/manipulate a playlist how you want it, which is why I tend to use Spotify for all my music needs now.

YouTube is still one of the most popular video websites, however, and it's not without merit. I personally use it as a last resort because I just don't like it very much, but it is as popular as it is for a reason.

I don't think there will be anyone in the world who wouldn't love this website! It has got everything! From vines to music videos and from educational videos to pure entertainment. In short, this site is amazing!!!

Strange decision to use Comic Sans as the font for the titles of the website headings.

I could not find a way to navigate away from the homepage to any deeper links with more information. One would expect that the left skyscraper section would be hotlinked to more examples.

One of the very few politics sites on the internet that is truly unbiased and is not pushing neither a right or a left-wing agenda.

It is a fantastic compendium, compiled twice daily - once in the morning and once in the afternoon - of all the news that is worth reading - in a read...

Born as a clickbait, arbitrage website completely devoid of any substance or content - it somehow took that concept and made it worse.

Buzzfeed is known as the laughingstock of the internet, for its truly vile cesspool of social justice warriors, for its overly dramatic authoritari...

A heavily biased so-called "news" resource - HuffPo is hypocritical in nearly every possible aspect. It preaches equality and diversity, and yet it's boardroom is nearly completely composed of white women. It claims to be strongly for diversity, and yet it practices no diversity of thought whatso...
