The Huffington Post (sometimes abbreviated Huff Post or HuffPo) is a liberal American online news aggregator and blog founded by Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, Andrew Breitbart, and Jonah Peretti, featuring columnists. The site offers news, blogs, and original content and covers politics, business, entertainment, environment, technology, popular media, lifestyle, culture, comedy, healthy living, women's interests, and local news.

The Huffington Post was launched on May 9, 2005, as a liberal/left commentary outlet and alternative to news aggregators such as the Drudge Report. On February 7, 2011, AOL acquired the mass market Huffington Post for US$315 million, making Arianna Huffington editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group. In 2012, The Huffington Post became the first commercially run United States digital media enterprise to win a Pulitzer Prize.

Finding a fair, objective news source can be difficult online, with top searches for current events often displaying results from right-wing, subjective sources such as the British ‘Daily Mail’, which seems to have taken over the world in recent months.

Whilst it does feature its fair share of celebrity news and ‘brain candy’, the Huff’s content is split into categories and the ‘news’ section is filled with informative articles on current events. As the Huffington Post is unbiased towards minority groups, religions or alternative cultures, it’s unlikely you’ll stumble across any form of ‘bashing’, with the exception of a few angry posts in the comments sections, which of course do not reflect the opinion of the source itself.

The site is easy to navigate, allowing you to quickly locate the news topics you’re interested in, making it ideal for staying updated on current affairs.

A heavily biased so-called "news" resource - HuffPo is hypocritical in nearly every possible aspect. It preaches equality and diversity, and yet it's boardroom is nearly completely composed of white women. It claims to be strongly for diversity, and yet it practices no diversity of thought whatsoever.

The policing on the website is extreme. It does not only extend to the comments section which is to be expected, but it even removes any articles that somehow get through the censors that are not in line with their political agenda.

It is incredibly biased against conservative speech and thought, but that is not the main enemy of the site - nay, the main enemy of HuffPo is free thought, free speech, and people who dare think for themselves.

Such a fantastic podcast!
Duncan has a knack for narrative history, taking all the disparate stories and facts and weaving it all together into a story that's fun and engaging.
It's also very well researched.
Would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in history.

I think the site looks dull now. I hope it evolves into more modern design. And also consider user experience.

I heartily agree with the reviews on this podcast series left so far by other listeners. I've not yet listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast (though I'm now inspired to do so), but the History of Byzantium podcast is a tour de force from Robin. He has done a sterling and balanced job...
